Chauwei is the founding partner of GAO Capital an asset management firm with a focus on quantitative and systematic investments. GAO has also developed its own proprietary tools to evaluate and monitor its investments which tend to have a higher degree of complexity with large quantities of data.
Prior to establishing GAO, Chauwei was director of research for a family office based in New York with over 1BN allocated to hedge funds globally. She was responsible for building the firm’s research and portfolio management systems. Prior to that, she was in the strategic business development group (internal M&A) at JPMorgan Chase and also at the financial institutions group of UBS Investment Bank, both in New York and Tokyo.
Chauwei graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics from The Wharton School and a BA in Asian & Middle Eastern Studies and a minor in Mathematics from the College of Arts & Sciences. She is on the Family Office Council of NYU Stern School of Business and on the Advisory Board of the Family Office Association based in Greenwich, CT. Chauwei is also one of the pioneer members of the Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst program.
